Organizational Structure for Sustainability Promotion
To strengthen university governance and integrate sustainable development, the University fulfills its social and environmental responsibilities while cultivating green talent for society. The following committees, project offices, and working groups have been established to advance the vision and initiatives of a sustainable campus.
Sustainability Committee
Establishment::Formed in December 2023 as the University’s decision-making and advisory body for sustainable development.
Composition:The Committee consists of 15 members, chaired by the President. It includes 10 ex officio members such as senior administrators and student representatives, as well as 5 internal and external faculty members with expertise in sustainable development.
Responsibilities::Reviewing the Sustainability Report, overseeing progress on campus sustainability initiatives, coordinating cross-unit sustainability strategies, and advising on challenges related to the University’s sustainable development.
Meeting Frequency: At least once every six months
Sustainability Working Group
Establishment:Established in August 2023 as a cross-unit platform for dialogue on the University’s sustainable development initiatives.
Composition::Convened by the Vice President for Sustainable Development, with the Secretary-General as Co-Convener. Members include the Office of Sustainability, University Social Responsibility Office, Office of Institutional Research, Secretariat, Office of General Affairs, student representatives, and other units invited as needed based on agenda topics.
Responsibilities:Facilitating sustainability information exchange and coordinating cross-unit action strategies.
Meeting Frequency:Be held as needed.
Sustainability Office
Establishment:Established in October 2024 as a staff unit responsible for organizing committee meetings and compiling the Sustainability Report.
Composition::The Office is led by one Director, supported by two full-time staff members and two part-time staff member.
Responsibilities:Formulating the University’s sustainability policies, serving as the secretariat to the Sustainability Committee and implementing its resolutions, consolidating campus sustainability achievements, and acting as the liaison for sustainability-related affairs.
Sustainability Action Project Team
Establishment:A university-funded research project team formed to develop action plans for campus sustainability issues. Approved by the University Development Committee in December 2024.
Composition::Led by the principal investigators of each approved project.
Responsibilities:Conducting pilot and preparatory studies on key campus sustainability topics. Current projects include Campus Microaggression Baseline Study, Campus Energy Conservation Promotion Project, Circular Economy Living Lab (Preparatory Project), and Campus Ecological Story Map Project.
