University Social Responsibility (USR) Program
NCCU’s USR initiatives are grounded in two core principles. The first is people-centered relationship building—by observing, listening, accompanying, and empathizing, the University builds trust with community partners to achieve shared well-being based on mutual understanding and respect. The second is culture-driven sustainability—cultural values shape and sustain change, linking concrete institutions and actionable strategies that influence individual behavior, coordinate complex societies, and ultimately advance governance goals.

Community Participation and the Common Good
Education Promotion
The NCCU Center for Public and Business Administration Education (CPBAE) was renovated in 2018, completed in 2021, and officially launched in 2022. Integrating continuing education, corporate training, conference services, and industry–university collaboration, the Center leverages NCCU’s strengths in the humanities and social sciences to promote humanistic care, sustainable development, and deeper community engagement.
In 2024, CPBAE introduced a for-credit course on Net-Zero Emissions and Carbon Management, focusing on international trends and climate policy. The course strengthens participants’ skills in carbon inventory and net-zero strategy planning, supporting organizations in addressing sustainability transition challenges.

Industry–Government–Academia Collaboration Creating a Green Landmark in Yongkang: Chengdong Market
To strengthen community engagement and put Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) into practice, NCCU Office of University Social Responsibility and the Center for Public and Business Administration Education host a farmers’ market at the Xinyi Campus Plaza. The market brings together small farmers and micro-agribusinesses from across Taiwan to connect producers directly with the public, shortening the distance from farm to table and fostering local sustainability.

Promotion of Arts and Cultural Education
NCCU Arts and Culture Center uses art as a medium to strengthen friendly ties between the university and the local community. Most cultural programs are free and open to the public, promoting shared access to artistic resources and enriching humanistic experiences. Since 2016, the Center has continuously recruited students and community members with a passion for the arts as volunteers. Renamed “Arts and Culture Walkers” in 2020, the program is organized into three service groups and provides opportunities for artistic training and hands-on participation.
In 2024, the resident arts program themed “Multiverse” presented four exhibitions, nine performances, 11 film screenings, 11 lectures, seven workshops, and 52 volunteer training sessions, attracting a total of 4,997 participants, advancing inclusive arts education and cultural co-creation.
